Very modern minimalist hotel. Very clean, Godd breakfast, Pool on roof with sun loungers. Close to centre of Sorrento for entertainment and restaurants. Also very convenient for the port and the railway station (best method of getting tp Pompeii) Good value would definitely stay here again - highly recommended.

1/1 hanno trovato utile questa recensione My husband and I spent three nights in Sorrento during our Italy/Greece honeymoon this last month. We left Rome for Naples via train, and then jumped on the Circumvesuviana and headed to Sorrento for the second leg of our journey. We rolled our large cases from the train station to the Plaza hotel in Sorrento. It was not hard to find (we printed a map beforehand) and it took us about 15 minutes. The staff were very courteous and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is decorated in a very unique style. In a city that capitalizes on how old and traditional it's setting is, this hotel truly stands out and provides for a unique contrast to everything else in Sorrento. I think this is what attracted me to the place, and it is certainly the reason i liked it so much. We stayed on the blue foor and loved our room. The bathroom was very clean and modern and the beds were very comfortable. We even had a little balcony which provided a nice setting for an evening drink. The rooftop was amazing. There was a little lounge bar up there with a fabulous view of the city, but what is more, they had a rooftop infinity edge pool with an incredibe view. We couldn't help but sacrifice a day of running around the just lounge by the pool and take it all in. Sorrento was our choice to stay in because we wanted to see Pompeii and Herculaneum, but not have to stay in Naples or in the hotels close to the excavations. We spent a day exploring both these sites. The circumvesuviana was an easy ride to both of them. Take my advice; go to Pompeii first (and early in the morning). Avoid the crowds and tourguides and do your own thing with the map and guides that are given to you free.Bring a lunch and eat in the ruins! Be sure to bring water as well (although the people selling water weren't that unreasonably priced.) Go to Heculaneum second...you will be impressed. The Plaza was very nice and surprised us with two flutes of champagne and a few hors d'oeuvres upon our return one evening, to help us celebrate our honeymoon. We thought this was very thoughtful. The hotel has internet service (a free half hour I think) which proved necessary to keep in touch with family and to check train itineraries etc. We were leary of the restaurants in Sorrento (mediocre food for the masses, some places with arbirary cover charges.) but there was a nice pizzeria right down and across the street near the town square that was very good. The breakfast had a huge selection, but I have to say the quantity sacrificed the quality at times. A good energy boost in the morning nonetheless.

We did not like this hotel all that much, but I find it hard to explain why. Everything is very modern, very clean, the interior is brand-new and rather impersonal, but in itself okay. The (included) breakfast was even quite good, the service also a bit impersonal, but still adequate. Maybe the problem is indeed, as someone wrote, the lack of a âÂÂwarmâ feeling, due to how new hotel Plaza is. We had booked a room at the front of the hotel with 2 beds and a balcony, but found the traffic noise prohibitive. This made it impossible to keep windows open at night, let alone to enjoy sitting on the balcony. When I complained we were given a room in the back, with one bed and no balcony, which was admittedly very quiet. We had this room for 6 days/nights. I had expected a price cut, due to the smaller size and lesser facilities of our new room, but my requests met with several refusals which were argumented in different ways (none of which convinced me). Minor dislikes: the incessant 'muzak' in the elevators, the impossibility to regulate the air-conditioning in your own room (you have to ask the reception). And I found the rooftop swimming pool only so-so, too small to swim properly.

Hotel Plaza gets 5 stars! We stayed in July 2009 and we loved it. We had originally booked in to another hotel in Piano but realised straight away that we had made a mistake and so we moved after 2 nights. We stayed at the Plaza for 4 nights. Pros: everything!, in particular (1) reception staff very helpful (esp. Cynzia). e.g. We asked them to recommend a restaurant for dinner and the one they recommended was superb. (2) roof top pool is stunning, with views over towards Vesuvius (3) breakfast - wow! love the 'Vesuvius donuts' - erupting chocolate, how fabulous (4) location is great - just 100 yds from the centre, yet very quiet (balcony doors are sound-proof) (5) free internet (6) everything is brand new and very cool and modern, having been refurbished in 2008; air-con, lovely bed, terrific bathroom (7) the roof top area has to be one of the most relaxing places in the world!! Cons: there are none. This hotel is perfect, and we hope to stay there again one day... Tip: I recommend you get a room on the front; though the rooms over look the road, the balcony doors are sound-proof and anyway vehicles aren't allowed in to the centre in the evening.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! it is completely re-done and they've done a fabulous job. Decor is trendy and modern and the rooftop pool, while small, was a great place to hang out (not to mention beutiful view). Bar was great, hotel staff couldn't have been better and the breakfast was amazing. No complaints at all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sorrento.

L'hotel, da poco rinnovato, si trova dietro piazza Tasso, il centro della vita diurna e notturna sorrentina, dove vi sono le fermate dei principali bus e da cui, in 15 minuti a piedi in discesa, si raggiunge il porto per prendere gli Aliscafi diretti a Capri, Napoli, Ischia, Positano e Amalfi. L'ufficio del turismo è a un paio di minuti dall'hotel Plaza, ma anche in albergo il personale preparato e cortese vi fornirà gli orari degli aliscafi e dei bus. La stazione ferroviaria dista 7-8 minuti a piedi ed è comodissima. Da lì partono anche i bus (SITA) che portano verso Positano (50 minuti) ed Amalfi (1h 40). Di fronte all'hotel c'è un parcheggio a pagamento (euro 2,00 l'ora oppure euro 20,00 al giorno), ma anche l'hotel stesso dispone di propri posti auto. L'ambiente è accogliente e studiato nei minimi dettagli per offrire un ottimo servizio, moderno e confortevole. Le foto del sito sono tutte veritiere, le camere ampie e tranquille, con televisore a schermo piatto, aria condizionata e minibar. Alcune, quelle di fronte, anche anche un balconcino. La nostra non l'aveva ed era silenziosissima. E' previsto il servizio in camera. Anche i prodotti per la doccia offerti dall'albergo hanno dei profumi particolari ed ho notato che non seccano la pelle. Al sesto ed ultimo piano del Plaza c'è un roof-bar con piscina, dove ci si può trattenere a prendere il sole e vengono forniti anche dei teli di spugna. Ogni mercoledì sera al costo di euro 20,00 a persona viene proposta una serata "sensoriale" - noi siamo arrivati proprio di mercoledì ed è stata una piacevole sorpresa - con assaggi di cibo preparati dal simpatico e bravissimo chef (una piccola porzione di antipasto, di primo, di secondo e di dolce + una bevanda - noi abbiamo preso del buon Aglianico del tiburno, ma sono previste anche altri tipi di bevande) accompagnati da buona musica, profumi e attrezzi per l'automassaggio (da provare!!). Dalla terrazza, la sera, si vede tutto il golfo illuminato da un lato e dall'altro le montagne..e c'è una piacevole aria fresca. La colazione viene servita dalle 7.00 alle 10.30: è ottima ed abbondantissima. Vi sono i dolci freschi preparati dallo chef (gustosissima la torta caprese di cioccolata, ma anche quella al limone, la torta di noci di sorrento,il muffin, le bombe ed i cornetti ripieni, lo strudel..), vi sono yogurt e frutta fresca, cereali, succhi di frutta, affettati vari (prosciutto cotto, crudo, salame, mortadella) e fette di formaggio. Potrete tostarvi del pan carré bianco o integrale e prepararvi da soli ottime spremute di carote e mele. Vi porterranno poi cappuccino, caffè, thé, orzo o quel che vorrete direttamente al tavolo. Il personale è estremamente gentile e mai nessuno si è rivolto a noi scortesemente, anzi, abbiamo trovato la massima disponibilità in tutto. La signora Cinzia, molto professionale, parla diverse lingue (anche cinese) ed è stata il nostro punto di riferimento. Non abbiamo mai provato il bar interno o esterno a piano terra ma i prezzi esposti non sembravano esagerati. Ho visto il punto internet, sotto, ma non lo abbiamo mai utilizzato. Vi sono, inoltre, due ascensori, quindi non si aspetta mai per salire in camera o scendere. I sorrentini sono tutti davvero gentili e la cittadina è molto pulita ed organizzata perchè vive di turismo. il belvedere dal parco comunale, dietro al chiostro di san Francesco, è davvero romantico. Di sera Sorrento si riempie della gioventù e turisti provenienti anche dai paesi limitrofi. Anche in altri luoghi della città ci hanno trattato benissimo ed è stato un indimenticabile soggiorno! Da provare la pizzeria da Franco, sul corso, dopo piazza Lauro..pizza fantastica e antipasti buonissimi (mozzarella di bufala e prosciutto + focaccia bianca + scamorza) a prezzi modici. C'è da fare la fila il sabato sera, ma il servizio è velocissimo. Sorrento è stupenda, dobbiamo assolutamente tornare e torneremo di certo al Plaza!
