Fantastic and luxurious hotel in the heart of Sorrento. This is a newly renovated hotel (2008) and the standard is very high. The staff is very friendly we got help with everything from a late check-out to the train tables. The rooms are very chicly decoreated in a modern style with a specific colour of the room depending on which floor you live. It is located in the heart of Sorrento with walking distance to the bus/train station and the historic part of town.

The modern, freshly painted fascia of the Plaza Hotel accompanied by the luscious green foliage in contemporary white pots adorning the entrance certainly give this hotel a cover on which the book should be judged. Check-in was smooth, queue free and most importantly completed with a smile. From here we took a glass-fronted elevator through the various colour coded floors (though please be assured that stairs are available for the more exercise-conscious!) Rooms were operated via a ‘credit card key’ – not such a novelty nowadays but this system boasted a hi-tech display just outside the door to notify cleaners if the room was occupied. Our room continued the colour scheme of the floor on which we were on and offered a well-stocked mini-fridge, air-conditioning, phone, tv, wardrobe with safe, balcony with two chairs and a table (with a street view – not particularly tranquil when sat there but good for people watching). The bathroom was also well equipped with a hairdryer, more towels than we knew what to do with and the usual complimentary shampoo, shower gel and body lotion. Breakfast was served from 7.00-10.30am and offered a huge choice – cold meats and cheese, toast, prepared fruit, croissants, doughnuts, cakes, pastries, yoghurts, cereals, scrambled egg, bacon and sausages, fruit juice, a juicer machine (for making your own fresh carrot, celery etc.) and of course coffee and cappuccino! The breakfast staff were always friendly, well turned out and greeted you with a smile no matter what time of the morning it was! The rooftop pool and sun terrace is a beautiful setting for some relaxation. Food is served there around lunch time until 2.30pm. Prices are a little on the steep side but sometimes it was just necessary when it was too hot to go traipsing around Sorrento for a bite to eat. Though the area was relatively small, don’t be put off. We never once had to fight for a sun lounger and the pool was never crowded. The views from this spot are truly amazing and seemed to be unsurpassed by any of the hotels surrounding us. The pool also offers jacuzzi style jets which we didn’t realise until the last day! (There are three silver buttons just to the right of pool as you get in which activate these jets!) Towels are provided free of charge. The hotel bar is located at the front of the hotel and became our regular ‘watering hole’ before or after we’d been out for our evening meal. As the hotel is just a stone’s throw from the main square, it was a perfect retreat for curling up on the terrace and enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine. Again, though prices were not particularly cheap, the service was exemplary. The barman (Massimiliano) could not be more welcoming and every night made us feel as though we were the only people in the bar. Drinks are served on a tray, to your table accompanied by complimentary nuts, crisps, hot bread bites and other delicious appetisers. The open front also makes this a perfect spot for some more people watching! I would highly recommend this hotel without hesitation. Keep up the good work! A few tips for the general area - If you visit Pompeii make sure you take plenty of water and food and a hat! The place is much bigger than i anticipated and, once you've paid to enter the site there is no where to buy food or water (though there are water fountains). We spent 4 hours there and it was so hot it became unbearable so we didn't cover the entire site. The trains are useful and relatively cheap but they have no air conditioning! Again, take lots of water! Beware of where you eat/drink in Capri, we stopped at one place where they charged 5 Euros for a can of Coca Cola!

Next time I’m in Sorrento, DEFIANTLY I’ll stay in PLAZA Great location, great hotel, excellent staff and service. Rafael was very helpful before arriving and during our stay, and not forgetting the sweet Cinzia. The room service was very quick, whenever we called to order hot water for my son’s milk bottle they sent it up in less than 5 minutes each time during our stay of 5 beautiful days in Sorrento. Highly recommended, clean modern hotel, with excellent and friendly staff and not forgetting great location right on Piazza Tasso and just 5 minutes walk from the train station. Oh and the beautiful small roof top pool, you have to take your camera to take beautiful shots from up there.

Myself and my sister have just returned from a fantastic two week stay in this hotel. From the moment we arrived we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. As we have been to Sorrento on a few occasions the purpose of this trip was to relax so we spent a lot of time at the hotel and strolling around Sorrento. The hotel was perfect for this as it had a lovely modern, relaxing feel and a beautiful pool on the roof terrace. We spent several hours every day relaxing by the pool or chilling out on the roof terrace. The hotel is just a few steps from Piazzo Tasso and therefore very close to lovely restaurants and bars. The hotel had a new feel about it and was spotless. It was very quiet but I suppose that is due to time of year and a general fall off in tourists in the area. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and delicious coffee, We often took a second cup of coffee onto the terrace at the front of the hotel for a spot of people watching! We also enjoyed many cocktails there made by the barman Tony. The very helpful staff helped us organise a few things that we wanted to do. We would ask a question as we were going out somewhere and when we came back the information would be waiting for us. Free wireless internet also. I really could not fault the hotel for the price that we paid.

We never actually stayed in the hotel - we were staying in the Rota suites which are owned by the same company. We visited the hotel for drinks and we were given a tour of the hotel - it really is lovely. The entrance and foyer are very spacious and welcoming. The staff were very friendly - nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The rooms were large and very modern. The rooftop infinite pool and sundeck opened last week - our visit was in the evening and the view of the sunset was lovely! The hotel is in a fantastic location just off Piazzo Tasso . If i was looking for a hotel in Sorrento I would def give this one a try!

Fantastic location just off Piazza Tasso, very modern hotel which has just been refurbished to a very high stanadr throughout. From the street the hotel looks like an upmarket restaurant or club, all white furnishing and marble floors ( very cool) . Staff were extremely friendly and all had very good english, nothing was to much trouble and our enjoyment was their top priority. Each floor has a theme colour over white and all the rooms are airy and well equiped, we were on the 5th floor with a balcony which gave us a sea view as well as looking onto the street below, great for sun downers and people watching. The top floor 6th is totally dedicated to the infinaty pool and lounge/ sun bathing area where you can order food and drinks and the views over the Bay of Naples on one side and the high mountains on the other are breath taking. We could not reccommend this hotel highly enough and it certainly will not break the bank, I have even suggested my friends who are honeymooning in Sorrento to stay here. This is my first review on Tripadvisor and the reason for this is the wonderful experience we had at the Plaza. Well done to all involved, please keep it up.
